Product Introduction
Maltitol Powder is a white crystalline sugar alcohol. We produce it through the hydrogenation of maltose, which comes from high-quality corn starch. The result is a clean-tasting sweetener that looks and feels like sugar. We call it Hydrogenated Maltose because of the production process. The semi-acetal hydroxyl group of maltose is reduced to a hydroxyl group, converting it into maltitol. This gives Maltitol its unique properties.
Maltitol Powder offers about 75% to 90% of the sweetness of sucrose. But it only provides about 2.1 kcal per gram-roughly half the calories of sugar. This makes it a smart choice for sugar-free and reduced-calorie products.

It is a new type of sweetener that is widely used in the processing of sugar-flavoured foods. In the past, the sweeteners people consumed were basically calorie-dense, sweet sugars that were prone to diseases such as diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis and heart failure. It is high in sweetness, low in calories, good in safety, and has sufficient raw materials and a simple manufacturing process, with unique properties not possessed by other sweeteners.

Product Function
- Sweetness That Feels Right
Maltitol delivers a clean, pleasant sweetness. It has no bitter aftertaste-a problem we see with many artificial sweeteners. The sweetness profile is remarkably close to sugar. This means your customers will notice less difference in taste.
- Half the Calories
At about 2.1 kcal per gram, Maltitol Powder helps you create products with significantly fewer calories. Sugar provides 4 kcal per gram. The calorie reduction is substantial without sacrificing taste.
- Tooth-Friendly
Oral bacteria cannot ferment Maltitol to produce acid. This is why we see Maltitol in so many sugar-free gums and dental care products. It simply does not contribute to tooth decay.
- Low Glycemic Impact
With a glycemic index around 35, Maltitol causes much smaller blood sugar spikes than sugar. This makes it suitable for diabetic products and health-conscious formulations.
- Moisture Retention
Maltitol acts as a humectant. It holds onto moisture. In baked goods, this means softer texture and longer freshness. In confections, it prevents sugar crystallization and gives a glossy finish.
- Heat Stability
Maltitol powder withstands high temperatures. It remains stable during cooking and baking. This reliability makes it a versatile ingredient for many production processes.
- No Browning
Unlike sugar, Maltitol does not participate in the Maillard reaction. Your baked goods and confections will maintain their intended color.

Prodcut Application
- Sugar-Free Confectionery
Maltitol Powder shines in hard candies, gummies, chewing gum, and chocolate. It provides bulk and texture similar to sugar. The anti-cariogenic property makes it the go-to choice for sugar-free gum. We see confectionery manufacturers using it to create products that taste indulgent but are tooth-friendly.
- Baked Goods & Pastries
In cakes, cookies, breads, and pastries, Maltitol helps maintain moisture. It extends shelf life and keeps products soft. Many bakers appreciate that it does not brown like sugar. The sweetness level is close enough that 1:1 replacement works in most recipes.

- Chocolate
Maltitol serves as a bulk sweetener in sugar-free chocolate. It offers good heat stability and mouthfeel. It helps prevent chocolate from "blooming" during storage.
- Frozen Desserts
In ice cream and popsicles, Maltitol inhibits the growth of large ice crystals. The result is a smoother, creamier texture. It also enhances the body and sweetness of frozen treats.
- Functional Foods & Nutritional Products
Protein bars, dietary supplements, and meal replacements frequently contain Maltitol. It provides bulk, sweetness, and a pleasant mouthfeel without the sugar spike. We work with many nutraceutical companies who rely on Maltitol for their formulations.
- Beverages
Maltitol powder enhances body and sweetness in juice drinks and functional beverages. It does not affect the flavor profile. In acid drinks, it gives a full, smooth taste.
FAQ
Q: Is Maltitol Powder safe for diabetics?
A: Yes. Maltitol has a low glycemic index around 35. It causes much smaller blood sugar spikes than sugar. However, diabetics should still account for the carbohydrate impact when planning their intake.
Q: How sweet is Maltitol compared to sugar?
A: Maltitol provides about 75% to 90% of the sweetness of sucrose. The exact sweetness depends on the form and concentration. In many applications, you can use it as a 1:1 replacement for sugar.
Q: Can Maltitol Powder replace sugar 1:1 in baking?
A: Yes, in most recipes. But keep in mind that Maltitol does not brown like sugar. It also retains more moisture. You may need to adjust baking time or temperature slightly.
Q: Does Maltitol cause digestive discomfort?
A: Like other sugar alcohols, consuming large amounts of Maltitol may cause mild digestive issues in some people. The comfort zone for most adults is 10 to 20 grams per day. At moderate levels, most people tolerate Maltitol very well.
Q: Is Maltitol natural or synthetic?
A: Maltitol is semi-natural. We derive it from natural starch sources like corn. The production involves enzymatic hydrolysis and hydrogenation. So it comes from natural feedstocks but undergoes industrial processing.
Q: How should I store Maltitol Powder?
A: Store in a dry, well-ventilated place. Keep relative humidity below 75%. Protect from moisture and heat. Properly stored, Maltitol Powder has a shelf life of 24 to 36 months.
Q: What certifications does your Maltitol Powder have?
A: Our product meets FCC, USP/NF, and JECFA standards. We offer Halal, Kosher, and non-GMO certified options. We provide full COAs with every shipment.
Q: What is Hydrogenated Maltose?
A: Hydrogenated Maltose is another name for Maltitol. The name comes from the production process-hydrogenation of maltose. Both terms refer to the same ingredient.
Q: What particle sizes do you offer?
A: We offer various particle sizes to suit different applications-fine powder for dry mixes, standard crystalline powder for general use, and coarse grades for specific formulations. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
A: Our standard MOQ is 25 kg. We also offer sample quantities for product testing and development. Bulk orders are available in 25 kg bags, with larger packaging options upon request.
